Live Music TV Show Backs Web Site in New Twist

LOS ANGELES„In the latest twist on the concept of convergence, Horizon Media and client Live Music Channel have launched a syndicated live concert television show concurrently with and in support of the company›s Web site.
Both the Live Music Channel show and Web site,, will feature music videos, musical news and concert tour information. Horizon Media helped plan the concurrent launch strategy and negotiated the syndicated television time.
˜The concept of launching the site in conjunction with a TV show is great,” said Bill Koenigsberg, president and chief executive officer of New York-based Horizon Media. ˜Media entities like Disney have done this, but I believe we are going to see some [independently owned Web site] copycats because it is a great vehicle.”
Live Music Channel is currently broadcast in late-night time periods in New York, Los Angeles and Boston. The company plans to be on the air in all of the top 10 media markets by April 2000. presents banner advertising messages from General Motors (for the Safari), Sony and, among other sponsors. To date, the television program has only run record company promotions, according to a client representative.
Live Music Channel was founded in 1998 by music and entertainment promotion and production entrepreneurs Ken Mayer, Jon Loew and Charlie Corwin.
Horizon Media claims annual billings of more than $500 million.
