Faux meat continues to expand its reach into U.S. fast food restaurants, with Little Caesars announcing that it will offer plant-based pepperoni on its pizzas in six major markets.
The move comes via a deal between the Detroit-based chain and Field Roast, a vegetarian-friendly line of cheese, burgers, hot dogs, deli meat and other products owned by conglomerate Greenleaf Foods.
The two companies have created a “Planteroni Pizza,” which goes on sale this week and becomes the widest distribution for fake meat at a national pizza restaurant, according to the partners.
