Lincoln Preps Aviator

Ford Motor Co. will give consumers their first glimpse of the Lincoln Aviator in a 20-page advertorial in April’s Vanity Fair.

The Aviator, a midsized sport utility vehicle, is a new nameplate for the automaker. It will be unveiled this month at the New York Auto Show and goes on sale this summer.

The April Vanity Fair hits newsstands March 12. It focuses on Hollywood and is one of the magazine’s best-selling issues each year. The advertising spread will feature Lincoln vehicles with stars from TV, film and music, including Bon Jovi’s Richie Sambora, Laura San Giacomo from Just Shoot Me, Michael Michelle from ER, musician Babyface and famous chef Nobuyuki “Nobu” Matsuhisa. The Aviator is also shown with Martin Sheen of The West Wing and his daughter, Renee Estevez.

The Aviator shares the spread with other Lincoln models, including the Navigator, LS and Blackwood.

The layout is part of Lincoln’s joint sponsorship with the magazine of Campaign Hollywood Week, which features seven days of events leading up to the Academy Awards ceremony on March 24, Ford representative Lisa Mack said.

The advertorial was put together by the magazine and lead Lincoln Mercury agency Young & Rubicam, Irvine, Calif. Y&R unit Wunderman in Irvine was also involved. Photo graphy was shot by New York art and fashion photographer Hans Gissinger.

Lincoln did a similar 20-page spread in Vanity Fair’s Hollywood issue last year, Mack said. It highlighted the Blackwood.
