America’s obesity epidemic may not be getting drastically worse, but polling for the Gallup-Healthways Well-Being Index finds it isn’t getting better. In the period July-September, 27 percent of adults were classified as “obese” and another 36 percent as “overweight.” Those figures are within a couple percentage points of where they’ve been since the first quarter of 2008. Though they’ve had less time to plump up, plenty of young adults have become obese (see the chart).
