Lane Advertising has added creative and media chores for UCom, a provider of pagers, cellular phones and related technology.
The agency in Salem, Mass., prevailed after a review of undisclosed contenders based mainly on the strength of its creative product and related experience with other small retailers such as Honeydew Donuts, said Jill Hanson, marketing manager for the client in Westbrook, Maine. Ad spending through Lane will be $1 million, Hanson said.
Surprise Advertising in Portland, Maine, had handled the account, which was reassigned because “we felt we needed more help in Massachusetts,” where eight of the client’s 18 retail stores are located, Hanson said.
The current tagline, “Talk cheap.
