Labbe Exits Burnett After 1 Year

CHICAGO After only a year at the agency, creative director Jeff Labbe is leaving Leo Burnett to pursue a directing career.

Labbe, who joined the shop last July from TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco, said his first job in his new career will be helming a spot for a “small” Burnett client. “I’ve learned a ton [at Burnett],” Labbe said. “There’s a lot of smart people here, and I learned a lot about working on bigger brands.”

Labbe said he will move back to the West Coast this fall and look to build his directorial portfolio. “I’m going to get out of here before the winter starts,” he said.

Recently, Labbe worked on Nintendo and completed spots for The Advertising Council. Kash Sree, who teamed with Labbe at Burnett, will continue in his role as a creative director. Labbe and Sree were two of six high-profile creative hires made by Burnett chief creative officer Cheryl Berman and deputy chief creative officer Mark Tutssel last year.
