The Los Angeles Advertising Agencies Association named its leaders of 2001 last week.

Leader of the Year, its top honor, went to Scott Gilbert, CEO of Saatchi & Saatchi in L.A, which claims billings of more than $500 million.

“For anyone to be a recognized leader, you have to have a good team to lead,” said Gilbert, who oversees business for clients such as Toyota Motor Sales, USA and Procter & Gamble. “I am very fortunate to have such an outstanding team at Saatchi.”

In winning the award, Gilbert follows West Coast executives Michael Sheldon, executive vp and general manager of Deutsch/LA in Marina del Rey, Calif.;
