Kula Becomes First CFO at Eleven

SAN FRANCISCO The former chief financial officer of Buder Engel has joined independent Eleven as its first CFO, an agency representative said.

Ken Kula, 46, has 20 years of experience in advertising and will report to Eleven president Jordan Warren. Kula was hired by the San Francisco agency this month as the shop adds new business and staff, the rep said.

Prior to leading the financial division of Buder Engel, Kula was CFO of another independent shop, Leagas Delaney. At these two San Francisco agencies he worked with clients such as MVP.com, CNET, Sega, NorthStar Ski Resort, Dr. Martens, Virgin Mobile and Monterey Bay Aquarium.

Kula spent the first 10 years of his career in the Interpublc Group’s Foote Cone & Belding network, starting with the corporate mergers and acquisitions group in Chicago and London, and then becoming CFO of FCB in San Francisco.

During his career Kula has visited more than 50 FCB, Publicis and DDB offices in more than 30 countries. He has managed the financial operations of an office with $800 million in billings and 450 people as vice president and CFO at FCB, as well as had small shop experience as co-managing director of DDB Romania, where he led the in-country accounts of clients such as McDonald’s, Sony and Volkswagen.

Kula earned undergraduate and MBA degrees from Notre Dame.
