Kraft Marketing Exec Joins Penney’s Board

DALLAS Consumer marketing executive Mary Beth Stone West has joined J.C. Penney’s board of directors, the company said.

Stone West, 43, group vice president of the Kraft Foods North America Grocery segment, will guide Penney’s efforts to develop emotional connections with its customers, said CEO and chairman Myron E. (Mike) Ullman III.

“Her experience in developing innovative programs to support and expand some of the best-known American brands will be of significant value to our board,” Ullman said.

Stone West began her career in consumer marketing in 1986 at the Maxwell House coffee business of General Foods Corp., which later became part of Kraft. At Kraft, the largest food and beverage company in North America and second-largest in the world, she has held a number of marketing positions.

Stone West was named to Black MBA magazine’s “50 Under 50.”

Based in Plano, Texas, J.C. Penney operates 1,017 department stores throughout the United States and Puerto Rico.
