Knees Takes Charge of Callaway Marketing

LOS ANGELES Former PepsiCo and Unilever executive Bill Knees has been named senior vice president of marketing at Callaway Golf, according to the company.

Knees, who reports to president and CEO George Fellows, will oversee marketing and brand development for Callaway, Odyssey, Ben Hogan and Top-Flite products.

Knees was most recently vice president of brand development at Unilever’s Greenwich, Conn., office. In recent years he has worked on brands such as Diet Pepsi, Ragu, Snuggle and Dove.

Fellows welcomed Knees as “a real asset to our organization in further building the Callaway Golf brand names,” in a statement.

Knees said that he was grateful to be joining Callaway “at such an important juncture in the company’s history.”

The Carlsbad, Calif.-based company spent $35 million on measured media in 2005, per TNS Media Intelligence, down 23 percent from the year previous. WPP Group’s Young & Rubicam Brands in Irvine, Calif., is the lead ad agency.
