Kim Returns to Organic in VP Role

NEW YORK Organic said James Kim would rejoin the agency as vice president of strategy at its Detroit office.

The Omnicom Group interactive shop welcomed Kim back from Digitas’ Modem Media, where he was vice president of marketing for six months, working on the Microsoft account. He worked at Organic’s San Francisco from 1999 until earlier this year in strategic roles, most recently as group director of strategy.

Kim, 38, will work mostly on Organic’s key DaimlerChrysler account, which was a major lure back to the agency, in addition to the opportunity to focus solely on interactive work, he said.

He will report to Bill Camp, managing director of the Detroit office.

“In the marketing world, we’re starting to lead the charge a little more,” Camp said. “A position like this becomes more important for us.”

Before he joined Organic in 1999, Kim worked on the client side, including a three-and-a-half year stint at Toyota, where he developed brand strategy in the U.S. market for the Toyota and Lexus vehicle lines.
