Kendra Vollans has been named media group director at Kovel/Fuller

Kendra Vollans has been named media group director at Kovel/Fuller, a new post, as the agency continues to move from a conventional structure toward a decentralized, team-oriented concept.
Also joining the Los Angeles agency is Jill Marx, who comes from Davis/Elen. Although Vollans will run Kovel’s media efforts, she and Marx will work as a team, Vollans said.
Kovel is forming client-dedicated business groups in lieu of the more traditional creative-media-account departmental structure. Vollans is expected to be an integral part of that change.
“We are looking for Kendra to be a leading light in these groups,” said agency president John Fuller. “Vertically segmented agencies will be few and far between. I would not be surprised if we have media people [functioning] much like account planners–a hybrid of research, account and creative.”
A 17-year veteran in the market, Vollans has worked at a number of shops, including Fraser Young, where she was media director, and J.D. Power and Associates, where she served as an associate partner. The agency was attracted by “her breadth of experience on the client and agency side and in the Internet area,” Fuller said.
Marx was Davis/Elen’s director of media planning and ran its regional McDonald’s media efforts. She has worked in senior media positions at other local shops, including Rubin Postaer and Associates. K
