KB+P, MFP to Merge

NEW YORK MDC Partners is merging Kirshenbaum Bond + Partners with Margeotes Fertitta Powell, sources said. Both shops are based here.

MFP CCO Neil Powell will launch his own agency, backed by MDC. It is unclear what the name of Powell’s new shop will be.

MFP sold a majority stake to MDC in 1998, becoming the Toronto-based holding company’s first U.S. acquisition. The agency’s clients include Mike’s Hard Lemonade and Christiania Vodka.

Powell joined in 2005 after the shop merged with his eponymous boutique.

KB+P, which works with Mohegan Sun and Wendy’s, among others, sold a majority stake to MDC in 2004.

Executives at the agencies and MDC could not immediately be reached for comment. In the past year, MFP has been among MDC’s weakest performers, with key accounts like Godiva and SunCom leaving the fold.

MDC also owns Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami and Cliff Freeman and Partners in New York.
