Jennifer Lopez Says Creatives Are 'Scarce Assets' With Unique and Valuable Skills

The actress, singer and entrepreneur spoke on Brandweek's final day

Jennifer Lopez, like aspiring artists before her, heard early in her career that talented people were “a dime a dozen” and that, sooner rather than later, someone “younger and better” would come along to capture the public’s attention.

Lopez, speaking during the final day of Brandweek, poked holes in that outmoded way of thinking by calling herself and other creatives “a scarce asset.”

“We’ve been told as artists, especially as women, that we’re disposable, and that’s not the truth,” Lopez said during a session with Adweek’s chief content officer Lisa Granatstein.
