J. Brown Engages ECD

BOSTON The J. Brown Agency, a promotions and marketing company, has appointed Mike Scheiner executive creative director, a new post at the shop.

Scheiner, 41, will oversee creative and strategic development for the agency’s Stamford, Conn., office clients, as well as take part in new-business initiatives. Scheiner will report to Victor Mazzeo, chief creative officer.

“Mike brings so much more than a traditional promotions background to J. Brown, given his more than 20 years’ experience,” said Vince Weiner, president of J. Brown. “As a hybrid branding executive, he is able to take a 360-degree approach to our business and create holistic marketing programs to help our clients meet their strategic business goals.”

Scheiner comes to J. Brown after nearly four years at the New York office of Omnicom Group’s DDB, where he led brand integration efforts for the agency’s client roster. At DDB, he held the title of creative director, managing clients that included the New York Lottery, the Bank of New York, ExxonMobil, Philips Lighting and NYC2012, New York City’s bid to attract the 2012 Olympic Games.

“Michael’s strong design and branding background are the latest example of our commitment to turning out the highest level of creative work and delivering consistently breakthrough results at retail,” said Mazzeo.

Current J. Brown clients include Gerber, Kraft, Dairy Management, Bic, FedEx, Rayovac and ABC News, among others. The company is a unit of WPP Group’s Grey.
