NEW YORK Aegis Group’s Isobar network said it has bought Molecular, a Web design firm, in an effort to bring its fledgling network beefed-up site-side services.

Isobar will pay $31.5 million in cash over two years for Watertown, Mass.-based Molecular, which builds transaction-focused Web sites for clients like Fidelity Investments, Hewlett-Packard and Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

Formed last July, Isobar is constructing a global network of digital services. In Europe and Asia, it has made nine agency purchases.
