IPG Taps Gatfield for Global Role

NEW YORK Stephen Gatfield, former worldwide chief operating officer of Publicis Groupe’s Leo Burnett, has accepted an offer to become executive vice president of global operations and innovation at Interpublic Group, a new post, the holding company said.

Gatfield, who is expected to start in April, will help streamline operations across IPG agencies and create new models for servicing clients, IPG said. As such, he will work closely with top brass at IPG and agency CEOs. He will report to IPG CEO David Bell.

Gatfield, 45, left Burnett last year, after two years as COO. For nearly all of his 23-year career, Gatfield has worked at the Chicago-based agency network. Before becoming COO in 2001, he held top posts in the Asia-Pacific region and in the U.K.
