NEW YORK — Interpublic Group of Cos. on Thursday said its worldwide revenue fell 4.8 percent last year, compared to 2000.

The figure did not include Foote, Cone & Belding’s loss of Chrysler. When that loss is included, worldwide revenue actually fell 6.3 percent, from $7.2 billion to $6.7 billion, Interpublic said. Net income, excluding the cost of restructuring and other unusual items, amounted to $359.2 million, down from $570.3 million in 2000.

“The past year was a challenging one,” acknowledged IPG CEO John Dooner, in a prepared statement.
