NEW YORK IMG, which represents athletes, entertainers and celebrities, said Monday that Robert Birge has been named to the new position of chief marketing officer.

Birge, who will be based in New York, will be involved in sales, marketing, consulting, licensing, client representation and events management to build brands globally, according to IMG.

He most recently was managing director at Omnicom Group ad agency TBWA\Chiat\Day, New York. His resume also includes executive positions at Boston Consulting Group’s consumer marketing and e-commerce practices, Miller Brewing and the Marketing Corporation of America.

IMG offers consulting services, event ownership and management; fashion events and models representation; licensing; golf course design; and client representation in golf, tennis, broadcasting, European football, rugby, cricket, motor sports, coaching and Olympic sports.
