Illinois Tourism Cuts to 3 Finalists

CHICAGO Finalists for the $12 million Illinois tourism account, notified on Wednesday, are WPP Group shops J. Walter Thompson and Young & Rubicam, and Havas’s Euro RSCG Tatham Partners.

Briefings for the Chicago agencies were scheduled for Wednesday, according to the state’s request for proposal. Final presentations are expected in early December, according to state officials.

Cut from contention were semifinalists IPG’s Campbell Mithun and independents Grant Jacoby and Hoffman York, all Chicago. The incumbent, Omnicom’s BBDO in Chicago, is not defending.
