ATLANTA — An Ikea retail ad showing a pair of women prisoners was yanked today by the client. The half page effort, which ran in today’s edition of west coast dailies including The Los Angeles Times, generated an immediate response from The Gay & Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation. In a letter to Ikea marketing manager, Christian Mathieu,GLAAD entertainment media director, Scott Seomin protested the image of a “predatory lesbian clutching a resisting, repulsed inmate in a jail cell,” calling the ad, created by Miami’s Crispin Porter + Bogusky, offensive.
