IAF Adds 12 to Cannes Jury Pool

NEW YORK The International Advertising Festival named 12 new jurors in its Press & Outdoor, Cyber and Media Lions categories today. The added jurors were necessary due to an increase in entries in these categories, the IAF said.

In the Press & Outdoor category, new jury members are: Antoine Houtsma, creative director of Doom & Dickson, Amsterdam, the Netherlands; Przemek Bogdanowicz, managing partner, creative director of G7, Warsaw, Poland; and Peter McHugh, chief creative officer, managing partner of Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis.

In the Cyber Lions category, four judges were added: Lee Stephens, CEO of Emitch, Melbourne, Australia; Fabio Simones Pinto, creative director of F/Nazca Saatchi & Saatchi, Sao Paulo, Brazil; Morten Kirckhoff, partner of Advance, Denmark; and Trefor Thomas, chief creative officer of RMG Connect, London.

There are five new judges in the Media category: Guillermo Tafet, general manager of Starcom, Buenos Aires, Argentina; Andreas Klemen, managing director of Mediaedge:cia, Sydney, Australia; Mario Mateus, CEO, Initiative Media, Lisbon, Portugal; Sue Rooney, regional media director, Africa of Universal McCann, Johannesburg, South Africa; and Demet Ikiler, managing director of Mindshare, Istanbul, Turkey.

While final entry figures are still being tabulated, festival executives have estimated submissions are up about 18 percent from last year in the Press & Outdoor category, 20 percent in the Media section and 25 percent in the Cyber division.

The 52nd International Advertising Festival will be held June 19-25 in Cannes, France.
