JWT, O&M to Merge Media Units in Atlanta
ATLANTA–The Atlanta divisions of J. Walter Thompson and Ogilvy & Mather will soon combine their media departments into a single Mindshare division for parent WPP, sources said. Andie Fox, who has led JWT’s media planning department here for more than 12 years, will head the new entity, said sources. Representatives of JWT and O&M did not return calls by press time.
Della Femina Rejoins S.E. Toyota Chase
ATLANTA–Southeast Toyota Distributors has reinstated Della Femina, Rothschild, Jeary and Partners to the list of finalists for its consolidated $70 million account. The New York shop rejoins Grey Worldwide and Gotham, both New York; WestWayne, Atlanta and Tampa, Fla.; and Omni Automotive, Birmingham, Ala., the lone remaining incumbent from the Deerfield Beach, Fla., client’s unbundled account.
Peanut Board Cuts Review to Pair of Shops
ATLANTA–The National Peanut Board has narrowed its agency search to two finalists: Mithoff Burton & Partners in El Paso, Texas, and an undisclosed shop. The Atlanta-based trade association, which represents some 10,000 peanut farmers in the Southeast and Southwest, issued a request for proposal in May for what was billed as a $10 million advertising, public relations and promotions account. More than 90 companies responded.
Turner Fernandez Resigns Primrose Child Care
ATLANTA–Turner Fernandez Turner has resigned Primrose Child Care Centers. The Atlanta agency and its Cartersville, Ga., client mutually agreed to separate over “philosophical differences.” Advertising spending is “just under $1 million” annually, according to agency principal Jamie Turner. Primrose has 73 child care centers nationally.
Mississippi Tourism Appoints 3 Finalists
ATLANTA–The Mississippi Tourism Board has three finalists for its estimated $3 million account. All of the agencies are based in Jackson, Miss.: GodwinGroup, Maris, West & Baker and an affiliation of freelance talent led by consultant Carol Mann. Incumbent The Ramey Agency, Ridgeland, Miss., did not defend the account. A winner is expected to be named this week.
Radisson Aruba Selects Meridian Group
ATLANTA–Meridian Group Marketing Communications has been named agency for the Radisson Aruba Caribbean Resort. The account is worth $750,000 to $1 million, according to Meridian president Eric Lackey. MGMC is the Fort Lauderdale, Fla., office of the Virginia Beach, Va., agency.
BaylessCronin to Brand Skin Care Dot-Com
ATLANTA–BaylessCronin has been named agency for MySkinMD.com. The Tampa, Fla.-based client launched a skin care Internet site in June to provide information and products primarily for women. MySkinMD.com’s Web site was developed by Atlanta’s iXL. BaylessCronin, also located in Atlanta, will be responsible for the dot-com’s branding
