Boston Market Awards $35 Mil. Account to Arnold

BOSTON—Arnold is preparing a campaign to portray McDonald’s Boston Market casual-dining chain as “a one-of-a-kind experience” after landing creative chores on the $35 million account last week, said agency president Fran Kelly. Boston’s Arnold, a unit of Havas and a McDonald’s roster shop, succeeds Suissa Miller, Los Angeles. Boston Market handles media in-house. Work will break early next year and use a strong lifestyle message to make the 650-location chain, based in Golden, Colo., “more relevant to how people live today,” Kelly said.

Avaya Taps McCann for $30 Mil. Business

NEW YORK—Avaya selected McCann-Erickson to handle its estimated $30 million creative account, with Interpublic Group sibling Universal McCann picking up media duties, the client confirmed. The review included Bates Techno logy Group in Atlanta; Doremus, New York; Arnold, Boston; and Mullen, Wenham, Mass. The media departments or media affiliates of those agencies also presented. Incumbent Foote, Cone & Belding, San Francisco, did not participate, but FCB, New York, and IPG sibling Initiative Media contended for media. The Basking Ridge, N.J., client provides software and services that integrate voice and data.

Miller Brewing Reviews $15 Mil. Foster’s Lager

CHICAGO—Miller Brewing is reviewing roster and nonroster agencies for its $15 million Foster’s Lager account, now at J. Walter Thompson, Chicago, said a company rep. Joining the incumbent in the pitch are M&C Saatchi in New York, Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore., and possibly others, sources said. A timetable was not provided.

Auto Club Prepares to Name Finalists

LOS ANGELES—The Automobile Club of Southern California is expected to name four finalists this week in the review for its $5-10 million creative and media account. Grey in Los Angeles, which handles PSAs for the client, is contending. The other California agencies vying for the account are D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles and Mendelsohn/Zien, both in Los Angeles; Foote, Cone & Belding and Young & Rubicam, both in Irvine; Ground Zero, Marina del Rey; Rubin Postaer and Associates, Santa Monica; and TBWA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, said Michael Johnson, vp of marketing and product management for the Los Angeles-based client. A decision is due by mid-November.

Schadler Kramer Wins Belterra Casino

LOS ANGELES—Belterra Casino Resort tapped Schadler Kramer Group to handle its $3-5 million ad account without a review, the agency said. SKG in Las Vegas is expected to launch a “Rediscover Belterra” campaign for the Belterra, Ind., client this month, weaving together themes of America, Columbus and new discoveries. Humorous TV, print, radio and outdoor ads will follow in November.

NYCA Lands Maxfli

LOS ANGELES—TaylorMade-Adidas Golf has selected NYCA in Encinitas, Calif., to handle creative and media on its estimated $3 million Maxfli golf balls account, the agency confirmed. NYCA is the lead shop for TaylorMade-Adidas. The incumbent on Maxfli was Erwin-Penland in Greenville, S.C.
