Witherspoon Lands Credit Union

DALLAS—Witherspoon Advertising has added Unity One Federal Credit Union to its client roster. The Fort Worth, Texas, shop won the financial institution’s creative and media business over undisclosed contenders in an informal review. “We’re excited about coming in at a time when we can build the brand from the ground floor,” said Bryan Harding, director of client services. Witherspoon will be responsible for helping Unity One, formerly United Railway FCU, reestablish an identity under its new name. The credit union has branches in Fort Worth and St. Paul, Minn.

Acadian Railway Co. Retains Tucker

DALLAS—Luxury tour outfit Acadian Railway Co. has retained Tucker & Associates as its public relations counsel. The Dallas agency will promote the Houston-based company’s expanding network of tours, including trips across the Northeastern U.S. and Eastern Canada. Billings are estimated at more than $200,000.

Sells/Clark Names Regional Director

DALLAS—Sells/Clark has selected Michael Clark to run its recently opened office in Fayetteville, Ark. Clark will be responsible for leading new-business efforts in the Northwest portion of the state. He will also be responsible for overseeing accounts such as the Fayetteville Advertising & Promotion Commission, Wal-Mart Realty and Arvest Bank Group. Clark comes from Hugg & Hall Equipment, where he was branch operations manager.

The Gap Releases Summer Campaign

LOS ANGELES—The Gap last week unveiled its summer advertising campaign. The effort represents the first work since the San Francisco-based apparel retailer parted with Modernista! in Boston earlier this year. It was developed by independent consultant Lisa Prisco, the West Coast creative director behind previous Gap TV ads such as “Khakis Swing,” “Khakis Groove” and “Khaki Soul.” Three new black-and-white, 30-second TV spots, directed by Cameron Crowe, the Coen brothers and Roman Coppola, promote the merchant’s denim, khakis and the white shirt. The ads, set to two 1960s-inspired tunes, present scenes such as Kate Beckinsale and Orlando Bloom being chased down the street by admirers, and Dennis Hopper and Christina Ricci in white shirts playing chess poolside. Campaign spending was undisclosed. The Gap spent about $100 million on advertising last year, per CMR. Broadcast media duties are handled by PHD in New York.

California Winery Picks Duncan-Channon

SAN FRANCISCO—Buena Vista Winery has tappedDuncan-Channon to handle its advertising and promotional efforts. The account was awarded to the San Rafael, Calif., agency without a review. Duncan-Channon currently handles Buena Vista’s sister brand, Clos du Bois. The client said the shop was selected because of its successful work for that label. New point-of-sale materials will launch in stores this fall. The company, located in the Carneros region of Sonoma County, Calif., was founded in 1857 and claims to be the first premium winery in the state.
