American Consolidates at Temerlin, McCannNEW YORK—American Airlines last week consolidated its global and domestic accounts at McCann-Erickson WorldGroup. The estimated $30 million global account, formerly handled by DDB, will be serviced at McCann-Erickson Worldwide in New York and Temerlin McClain in Irving, Texas. Temerlin, a division of McCann-Erickson WorldGroup, has handled the airline's $50 million domestic account for 21 years and will continue in that role. A DDB representative said the account loss will not heavily impact any one shop, as the global business was spread out over 20 offices worldwide. DDB Dallas had a handful of staffers dedicated to global account coordination, she said. Blanchard Schaefer Wins Palm Beach TanDALLAS—Blanchard Schaefer was awarded the $1 million-plus account of Palm Beach Tan following a presentation to the client earlier this year. The Arlington, Texas, agency competed against several undisclosed shops for the account. "It was readily apparent that Blanchard Schaefer had the marketing savvy and talent we need[ed]," said PBT director of marketing Troy Minaldi. The indoor tanning chain operates 30 locations in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. The shop's duties will include print, radio and television advertising. Hockey Spots Feature the Tooth FairyDALLAS—The Peer Group has launched its first advertising effort for the New Orleans Brass hockey team with a series of radio spots featuring the tooth fairy. The wise-guy tooth fairy tries to get hockey players to help him collect teeth, using both mockery ("What are you using those sticks for?") and unabashed pleading. "Hockey in New Orleans is so absurd to begin with, considering nothing has ever frozen down here," said agency principal Fred Peer. "We just wanted to capitalize on that absurdity and create something people will remember." The Peer Group is located in New Orleans. JWT Scoops Up Additional Nestlé WorkCHICAGO—J. Walter Thompson has added to its Nestlé business in recent weeks with the shift of an estimated $20 million in ice cream brands, including the newly acquired Haagen-Dazs. The Chicago shop was assigned the ice cream accounts without a review, a Nestlé representative said. Haagen-Dazs was previously handled by The Wolf Group in New York. Publicis in Mid America in Dallas handled all of Nestlé's ice cream offerings, which include the Drumstick and the Tandem bar. JWT handles creative for Nestlé brands including Butterfinger, Carnation Milk and Toll House Morsels.Harris Drury Cohen Lands Almond ResortsATLANTA—Almond Resorts has awarded its advertising account to Harris Drury Cohen. In an extended review, HDC of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., defeated DiNoto Lee in New York and Florida shops The Zimmerman Agency,Kelley Swofford and BVK/McDonald to capture the estimated $3 million business. Plans call for a consumer and trade campaign that will include print, radio, out-of-home and collateral components. The client, which operates a chain of resorts, is based in Barbados.
