Saturn to Hear Pitches for Account This WeekDETROIT—Five contenders for Saturn's $35-50 million Ion account make creative presentations this week. Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore., will pitch first, on Tuesday. Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco will pitch Wednesday morning, followed by D'Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles in New York. Presenting on Thursday will be incumbent Publicis & Hal Riney in San Francisco, in the morning, followed by McCann-Erickson in New York. $400 Mil. Hyundai, Kia Decision NearsLOS ANGELES—Hyundai Motor Co. has invited dealers on its council and ad committee to a meeting at the National Automotive Dealer Association convention in New Orleans this weekend, at which it promises to give "more information on our media buying consolidation," sources said. A decision in the estimated $400 million U.S. media consolidation review for the combined Hyundai and Kia Motors Corp. business is expected. Horizon Media and Aegis Group's Carat, both in New York, are contending. Giuliani in Monster.com Super Bowl SpotBOSTON—Monster.com has added a second commercial to the Feb. 3 Fox Super Bowl broadcast, a client representative said Friday. The 30-second spot, a black-and-white execution created by Monster.com parent TMP Worldwide, New York, features former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani, who thanks Americans for their support. The Giuliani ad will run in the first quarter. Monster.com spent about $2 million for the airtime, the client representative said. Wieden to Break New Air Jordan SpotsNEW YORK—Wieden + Kennedy, New York, will unveil a new campaign directed by Spike Lee to introduce Nike's Air Jordan XVII athletic shoes. The three-spot campaign, which breaks Jan. 27 during the NFC Championships on Fox, stars NBA players Ray Allen, Darius Miles and Quentin Richardson. The spots take place in an improv club where basketball players are the entertainment. Chrysler Withdraws Jeep AdDETROIT—A Jeep spot reviewed in this week's Critique was pulled after running only a few times on Jan. 6, following complaints that it reflected negatively on hunting. Jennifer Rossbach, a representative for Chrysler Group agency PentaMark in Troy, Mich., acknowledged on Friday that the spot had been pulled. A Chrysler representative said the automaker made a joint decision with the agency to pull the spot, which Chrysler intended as "pro-Jeep," not anti-hunting. See Critique, page 26. Account ActivityIkea has cut to three in the review for its $30-40 million account, sources said. Finalists are Goodby, Silverstein & Partners in San Francisco, Berlin Cameron/Red Cell in New York and Crispin Porter + Bogusky in Miami. A decision is due in February. … Merkley Newman Harty & Partners in New York has been selected to handle ad duties for VTech Holdings, a Glenview, Ill., company that markets educational games, sources said. Spending is estimated at $15-20 million. The review was managed by Jamie Pfaff, a consultant in Winnetka, Ill.
