AMD Launches Global Review

BOSTON—Advanced Micro Devices is in review for its $25-30 million consolidated global advertising account. Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston and Publicis in London, handle AMD’s domestic and European accounts, respectively. It was unclear if the two will participate in the competition, overseen by Select Resources International of West Hollywood, Calif. The Sunnyvale, Calif., microprocessor manufacturer is expected to name finalists in mid-January, with a decision in February.

Wild Leaves TBWA\C\D for Cramer-Krasselt

CHICAGO—Scott Wild has left TBWA\Chiat\Day in San Francisco to join Cramer-Krasselt of Chicago as vp and group creative director, reporting to executive creative director Marshall Ross. Wild, a copywriter at TBWA\C\D and, previously, Leagas Delaney in San Francisco, has worked on Adidas, Sony Playstation2 and Fox Sports.

Five Vie for Ringling Bros.’ Creative

LOS ANGELES—Ringling Bros. & Barnum & Bailey Circus producer Feld Entertainment is considering five undisclosed shops on the West Coast and in New York to handle creative, said Eric Stevens, chief marketing officer at the Vienna, Va., company. Billings are undisclosed. Ring ling Bros. spent $8 million on measured media in 2000 and $5 million in the first eight months of 2001, per CMR. Smash Advertising, Boston, created its most recent campaign. A decision is expected this week.

Guarascio Joins AdSpace Networks

DETROIT—Former General Motors vp of advertising and marketing Phil Guarascio was named chairman of AdSpace Networks, a media technology firm in Burlingame, Calif. Before he retired in May 2000, Guarascio held the top ad position at GM. AdSpace, which also has offices in Las Vegas and New York, provides digital outdoor media.

Macedo Wins SoCal. Ford Dealers Work

LOS ANGELES—Macedo & Associates said it will handle Hispanic-targeted advertising for the Southern California Ford Dealers Advertising Association. Beginning Jan. 1, the Los Angeles shop will create and place all Spanish-language ads for the group’s 114 dealers. Billings could not be determined. Dailey & Associates in Los Angeles will continue to handle general market work.

Cornyn Lands $2 Mil. Pasta Pomodoro Account

SAN FRANCISCO—Cornyn & Partners, a Northern California boutique, has landed ad duties for the Pasta Pomodoro restaurant chain in Phoenix. The agency won the roughly $2 million account without a review. There was no incumbent. The shop will handle all advertising, marketing and promotions for the chain.

Fanning Retires From William Morris

LOS ANGELES—Betty Fanning, vp in the commercials department of the William Morris Agency in Beverly Hills, Calif., is retiring at the end of the year, the agency said. Fanning has spent 40 years at WMA, brokering commercials, electronic shopping, daytime TV and licensing for directors and performers such as Dylan McDermott, Gillian Anderson and Kevin Costner.
