BKV Acquires Pair of Tech Assignments

ATLANTA—Direct response specialist Bennett Kuhn Verner has added two technology clients to its roster. The Atlanta shop won assignments for SimplyHealth, an online insurance directory based here, after an informal review that included crosstown rival Integrated Marketing Solutions. “They had all the experience, especially direct response,” said Joy Tu, marketing communications manager at SimplyHealth, about BKV. “They’ll profile our database and assist in creating a marketing plan template for our partners in the financial services industries like National City Bank and Synvous.” BKV acquired the account of Silverpop Systems of Atlanta without a review. Silverpop offers e-mail enhancement software to various business markets. Billings on both accounts are undisclosed.

Convention and Visitors Group Taps Enten

ATLANTA—The International Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus has selected Enten & Associates as its lead agency. The Washington, D.C., shop will provide branding, advertising, media planning and public relations for the association, which is headquartered in the nation’s capital. Print advertising will urge travelers to check with CVB offices in destination cities. Billings are estimated at $2 million. There was no review.

Creaxion Introduces Atlanta Gas Light Ads

ATLANTA—Creaxion has released its first advertising campaign for Atlanta Gas Light Co. The Atlanta agency won the $3-4 million account in August. Television spots, tagged “Making sure the gas is on,” broke last week on ABC and NBC affiliates. The 90-day media buy also includes cable venues A&E, ESPN, TNT and Lifetime. Web advertising will run through Jan. 31 on and Yahoo. Print ads will appear in The Atlanta Business Chronicle, Atlanta magazine and business-to-business publications.

CJRW Wins Arkansas Anti-Tobacco Review

DALLAS—Cranford Johnson Robinson Woods has won the review for Arkansas’ first anti-tobacco educational effort. Initial billings are less than $1 million. The Little Rock, Ark., shop paired with new local minority agency Advantage Communications to win the review, which was managed by the state department of health. CJRW president Frank Cox said his agency got a jump on its competition through research. “We saw what’s been going on across the country … and started researching the subject a full year-and-a-half before the rfp came out,” he said. The initial term of the contract is six months, with several options for renewal.

Sex Kitten, Catsanova in SPCA Campaign

DALLAS—Cats and dogs wearing sexy costumes and spiked collars star in new ads for the Society for thePrevention of Cruelty to Animals. The pro bono series by BRSG in Austin, Texas, encourages owners to spay or neuter their pets; it humorously focuses on the sexual proclivities of dogs and cats. Among the animals featured: a Lolita-like Sex Kitten, a debonair Catsanova and a “biker” named Tail Chaser. The billboard, poster and newspaper effort will run in Austin through mid-2002.
