Radisson to Consolidate at Martin

ATLANTA—The Martin Agency is in negotiations with Radisson Seven Seas Cruises to acquire the company’s$5 million account, sources said. The Richmond, Va., agency will handle creative and media buying duties. Boulder, Colo., consultant Bob Mathes conducted the agency search. The account had been split between Turkel Schwartz & Partners in Miami, which handled creative chores, and The Sawtooth Group in Woodbridge, N.J., which had been responsible for media. Officials at the Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-based cruise line could not be reached for comment.

Maryland Triples Tourism Ad Budget

ATLANTA—The State of Maryland will triple its tourism advertising budget for the remainder of 2001. Governor Parris Glendening revealed the spending increase and a new campaign aimed at helping the state’s slumping tourism industry. Trahan, Burden & Charles in Baltimore will develop the now $3.2 million effort, which will target out-of-state markets within a day’s drive of Maryland. The total annual budget is approximately $10 million. The new tagline, “Oh, say can you see …” is tied to the state’s historical spots in print and radio ads.

Georgia Boot Names Thompson & Co.

ATLANTA—Georgia Boot has hired Thompson & Co. as its lead agency. The Memphis, Tenn., shop will create a branding campaign using print, radio, television and Nascar event participation. Georgia Boot, headquartered in Franklin, Tenn., manufactures work, safety and outdoor footwear. Billings were undisclosed.

Bank of America Holds $25 Mil. Review

DALLAS—Bank of America has put its estimated $25 million business-to-business account into review, a client spokesman said. Requests for proposals from the Charlotte, N.C.-based bank began arriving at agencies last week. “What we’re looking for here is a new approach … for our more specialized businesses,” said BoA representative Scott Scredon. The account involves advertising for four different departments: global corporate and investment banking, small business, capital management and commercial banking. Bozell in New York, which has handled both consumer and trade ads since 1999, will not defend in the b-to-b review, an agency rep said. The search is national in scope. The client intends to make a selection before the end of the year.
