Bromley Is First Latino Agency for Payless

DALLAS—Payless ShoeSource has selected BromleyCommunications to create an inaugural Spanish-language ad campaign. The action follows the recent hiring of an ethnic marketing director, Cecilia Garcia, at the Topeka, Kan.-based client. “They are going to get fairly serious,” said Bromley vice president of new business Pablo Trench. “For us it is a very special win because Payless has one of the best retail distributions in the nation in multicultural and ethnic neighborhoods, and has tremendous potential for growth.” Account billings are undisclosed. Bromley in San Antonio will handle creative and strategic planning; Starcom Worldwide’sStarLink subsidiary continues as media-buying agency. The selection of Bromley followed a national review. Barkley Evergreen & Partners in Kansas City, Mo., handles the client’s $80 million general market account.

Mayer Advertising Gains Sav-A-Center

DALLAS—Sav-A-Center Food Market has selected Peter A. Mayer Advertising to handle its estimated $1-2 million regional account. The New Orleans agency will service the grocery store chain’s Southern market, which encompasses 26 stores in southeast Louisiana and along Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. “We’re very pleased,” said agency president Mark Mayer. “We believe [Sav-A-Center] is the region’s preeminent grocery operation.” Initial duties will include promoting the stores’ reward card program. Sav-A-Center is a division of Montvale, N.J.-based The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company, which also operates A&P and other supermarket brands.

G&G Creates Civic Pride Campaign

DALLAS—G&G Advertising has launched a city-sponsored outdoor campaign titled “Ah, my Albuquerque.” Media elements include outdoor banners, bus panels and theater posters featuring a variety of Albuquerque, N.M., residents. The people, ranging in ages from 2 to 48, are shown standing in front of favorite spots in town. “Sometimes cities and residents just get in a rut and need a reminder of the great place they call home,” said Michael Gray, creative director at the Albuquerque advertising agency. Media spending for the campaign was not disclosed.

Cirro, Sysorex Join Richardson’s Roster

DALLAS—Richardson Advertising has added Cirro Group and Sysorex Consulting to its client roster. Founded by former CapRock Communications executives, startupCirro Group plans to offer discounted electric rates and telephone services in Texas’ upcoming deregulated market. Sysorex is a California-based, e-business consulting company. Richardson of Addison, Texas, will handle assignments for both accounts ranging from logo and Web site design to direct mail.

Ogilvy Executive Moves to McKinney

ATLANTA—McKinney & Silver has named Parker Ransom vice president and executive group director for its Nasdaq and XO Communications accounts. Ransom, 49, joins the Raleigh, N.C., shop from Ogilvy & Mather in Dallas, which he opened in 1997 in support of the GTE account and closed earlier this year.
