Arizona Sends New Anti-Smoking RFP LOS ANGELES—The Arizona Department of Health Services issued a new RFP for its anti-tobacco advertising and public relations account. It had been awarded to E.B. Lane Marketing Communications in Phoenix in June, but following protests, the state decided to hold a new review. The budget, which had been $10-15 million a year, is now $7-10 million. Proposals are due Oct. 17. Toyota Selects Magellan for European Launch CHICAGO—Toyota Motor Europe tapped Bcom3's Magellan to handle the European launch of the Toyota Corolla. London-based Magellan, a new agency brand headed by Bcom3 vice chairman Reiner Erfert, will work for the company on a project basis. The Corolla is due to launch in Europe early next year. Billings were not disclosed. Starcom Lands Discover Card Planning CHICAGO—Morgan Stanley Dean Witter awarded media planning on its $130 million Discover Card account to Starcom USA in Chicago. It had been at Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco, creative agency on the account. Starcom also handles buying for Morgan Stanley Dean Witter itself. National Airlines Eager to 'Get America Flying' LOS ANGELES—National Airlines launched a campaign announcing $1 outbound fares for round-trip travel to be donated to the families of the flight crews who died in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks. Created by E.B. Lane Marketing Communications in Phoenix, the campaign includes print, online and radio ads. Newspapers and trade publications are being asked to run the ads at little or no cost. Richards Forms Hispanic Unit DALLAS—The Richards Group has formed a Hispanic marketing affiliate, Grupo Gallegos. The Los Angeles unit becomes the first Richards division outside Dallas. Clients include No Nonsense Pantyhose, PrimeCo Personal Communications and Eye Care Centers of America. The division will be led by John Gallegos, former vp and account director at Casanova Pendrill Publicidad in Irvine, Calif. Murphy Returns to Y&R SAN FRANCISCO—Kathy Murphy is back as general manager of Young & Rubicam's San Francisco office after a 15-month leave of absence to spend time with her young son. In addition, Liz Richardson was promoted to svp/CFO, and Sally Kennedy will add the job of director of business development to her responsibilities as svp/group account director. VitroRobertson Wins Cobra GolfGolf club manufacturer Cobra, Carlsbad, Calif., awarded its $3-5 million account to VitroRobertson, San Diego. The incumbent, Arnold in Boston, will continue handling other Acushnet brands including Titleist and FootJoy, said Cobra general manager Jeff Harmet. Finalists also included Arnold Ingalls Moranville in San Francisco and San Diego agencies Bulldog Drummond and DiZinno Thompson Solutions.
