Hotline Asks for More Ideas

CHICAGO— has asked the two agencies chasing its $35 million global account—Wieden + Kennedy in Portland, Ore., and Leo Burnett in Chicago—to “flesh out” their creative pitches, sources said. The Seattle-based company liked some ideas but wants more, sources said. A decision could come by early May. Amazon parted with FCB, San Francisco, in December.

Universal Interactive Studios Considers 4

LOS ANGELES—Universal Interactive Studios is eyeing four finalists for its estimated $10 million-plus account, according to sources. Said to be in the running are AKQA in San Francisco, B.D. Fox & Friends in Santa Monica, Calif., Young & Rubicam in Irvine, Calif., and one undisclosed shop. One source said a decision is “imminent.” The review is being led by J. Romm & Associates, Los Angeles, which referred calls to the client, who could not be reached. It is the first review for the videogame maker, owned by Universal Studios in Burbank, Calif.

California Health Work Pending

LOS ANGELES—The California Department of Health Services met last week with three finalists in the review for its cancer prevention and nutrition section account, worth an estimated $20 million over three years. Finalists include Lawrence, Mayo & Ponder in Newport Beach, Calif., and Sacramento agencies Runyon, Saltzman & Einhorn and Ogilvy Public Relations. The account combines healthy-living initiatives previously handled separately.

TBWA’s Grossman Takes Higher CFO Post

LOS ANGELES—Continuing to elevate top talent, TBWA promoted Neal Grossman to chief financial officer, North America. Grossman, previously CFO at TBWA\Chiat\Day in Playa del Rey, Calif., reports to Tom Carroll, promoted earlier this month to TBWA’s president of the Americas [Adweek, April 9], and to Jonathan Ramsden, CFO of TBWA Worldwide.

McCann Seattle Changes Name to Sedgwick Rd.

LOS ANGELES—McCann-Erickson in Seattle has finalized a long-planned name change aimed at creating a fresh entity that offers “independent thinking and global resources.” The agency had planned to adopt the name Star Machinery [Adweek, Feb. 5], but has opted for Sedgwick Rd. The Interpublic Group retains ownership.

Ground Zero Media Chief Joins Lunch

LOS ANGELES—Ground Zero media director Hal Carlson has left for the same role at ad agency Lunch. At Ground Zero, he established an in-house broadcast buying unit. He has also worked at FCB and Wieden + Kennedy. Based in Los Angeles, Lunch opened last fall with the $60 million Red Bull energy drink account.
