Gulfstream Flies With Fallon

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;Business jet manufacturer Gulfstream Aerospace tapped Fallon Minneapolis as its lead branding agency after an informal review. The Savannah, Ga., company will initially work with Fallon’s Brand Consulting division, but duties could eventually include advertising, public relations, interactive marketing and design, according to the agency. Gulfstream has no record of ad spending through Competitive Media Reporting.

Burnett Advances with Nintendo Effort

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;Leo Burnett here will begin advertising Nintendo’s Game Boy Advance video game with the tagline, “Life advanced.” TV spots will break April 30, focusing on the game’s hardware. Consumer print executions will appear in June and July books. The Redmond, Wash., company is expected to spend $75 million marketing the Game Boy Advance this year.

Mongoose Taps Cramer-Krasselt

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;Mongoose Bicycles has tapped Cramer-Krasselt to handle its advertising in a review, which included Crispin Porter &#x0026&#x003B; Bogusky, Miami. Billings are estimated at $1-3 million. Mongoose, a division of Pacific Cycles, headquartered in Vernon Hills, Ill., previously worked with several shops on a project basis and will continue to handle media buying in-house.

JWT Touts Blue Oval Ford Dealers

DETROIT&#x2014&#x003B;Ford Motor Co. broke a national branding campaign for its Blue Oval Certified dealers program from J. Walter Thompson here. The campaign includes three 30-second spots. It broke April 11 and will run nationally in spot buys. The spots feature both Ford employees and customers, and were shot at Ford dealerships in Chicago, Dallas and Los Angeles. Ford’s Blue Oval program is a certification process that recognizes dealers with high customer satisfaction ratings.

Valent Takes Helm of Frankel Unit

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;Jean-Fran&#x00E7&#x003B;ois Valent was named CEO of Frankel’s BrandGuard and Siren Technologies unit. Valent will report directly to Maurice L&#x00E9&#x003B;vy, CEO of Frankel parent Publicis.

DDB Bows Surpass, Prepares Busch Work

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;DDB Chicago is launching an ad campaign in June for Busch Entertainment’s latest attraction on its Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, Fla.,theme park. TV and print ads will promote Rhino Rally, a combination of African safari and water ride, which opens in late May, a Busch spokesman said. Separately, DDB Corbett, the shop’s healthcare unit, this week breaks its first work for Wrigley’s Surpass Antacid Chewing Gum. The print, TV and Web campaign uses the tagline, “Chew through heartburn.”

McDonald’s Promotes Millionaire Game

CHICAGO&#x2014&#x003B;McDonald’s ties in with ABC’s Who Wants to Be a Millionaire in a promotional effort beginning this week. For the next month, rub-off game cards will be included on all sizes of McDonald’s french fries. TV spots, created by DDB Chicago, will feature Millionaire host Regis Philbin.
