CHICAGO—A fresh round of TV spots for Miller Genuine Draft from J. Walter Thompson here breaks this week with the “Never miss a genuine opportunity” tag the agency broke in January. The spots take a direction described as sensuous and mysterious, with some of the pool directed by well-known director Tarsem.

Jenny Craig Enlists Doner

DETROIT—Jenny Craig signed Doner as its agency. The La Jolla, Calif., weight-loss company was previously with Suissa Miller, Los Angeles. The $25 million account will be serviced out of Doner’s Newport Beach, Calif., office, with strategic, direct response and creative support coming out of Detroit. Media buying will continue to be handled by Carat in Los Angeles.

CL Among 6 in Running for Ikea

BOSTON—Six agencies—out of nearly 30 to submit credentials—have been named semifinalists in the pitch for furniture maker Ikea’s $40-50 million U.S. and Canadian account. In the running are Carmichael Lynch, Minneapolis; Bensimon Byrne D’Arcy, Toronto; Crispin Porter & Bogusky, Miami; The Martin Agency, Richmond, Va.; and New York players Fallon and Messner Vetere Berger McNamee Schmetterer/Euro RSCG. Finalists will be selected the week of Nov. 20, said Judy Neer, a consultant with Pile and Co. in Boston, the consulting firm overseeing the search. A winner will be named before Jan. 1.

Detroit’s Casino Pushed by Berline Group

DETROIT—The second part of a two-phase campaign for Greektown Casino, Detroit’s third casino, kicked off last week with the opening of the facility in the Greektown neighborhood. The campaign is from The Berline Group, Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and includes two TV spots, print and outdoors. The campaign was built on the premise of “saving the best for last” and features not only the casino but the entire Greektown entertainment district.

Kohler Down to Finalists for $15 Mil. Account

DALLAS—Three finalists are competing in the review for Kohler’s $15 million account, sources said. Participants include Frierson Mee + Partners and Merkley Newman Harty, both New York; and GSD&M in Austin, Texas. The Kohler, Wis.-based kitchen and bath fixture company may also invite a fourth agency to participate. A briefing on a creative assignment for the pitch was held last week. Company officials declined comment.

Burnett Enlists Jingle Master Antelis

CHICAGO—Leo Burnett here hired Ira Antelis as its director of music aid. Antelis, best known for writing the music for Gatorade’s “Be Like Mike” jingle, will work with the agency’s production and creative departments to promote the use of music in television, radio and Internet advertising. He will report to Jonathan Davis, director of television production. Separately, Larry Woodard was named chief executive officer of Burnett’s New York-based urban marketing unit, Vigilante. He succeeds agency co-founder Marc Stephenson Strachan, who the agency said is leaving to “pursue other interests.”
