Eagle Capital Makes Cuts in Review
DALLAS–Sources said the review for Eagle Capital Mortgage’s $2 million account is down to Levenson & Hill and Moroch & Associates, both Dallas, following presentations last week. Dallas shops eliminated were Hadeler Sullivan & Law and JWT Specialized Communications. A representative for the Dallas-based client declined comment last week on the finalists. It was not clear at press time if additional presentations are scheduled. A decision is expected in May.

GSD&M Launches New PGA Tour Spot
DALLAS–GSD&M, Austin, Texas, this week launches a new 30-second TV spot, part of an ongoing campaign for the Ponte Vedra, Fla.-based Professional Golfers Association Tour. The ad, breaking April 27 during TNT’s National Basketball Association playoff coverage, features golfer Phil Mickelson on a basketball court shooting a golf ball that is slam-dunked by San Antonio Spurs center David Robinson. The tagline remains: “These guys are good.”

Love Employs Drexler for Houston Client
DALLAS–Love Advertising, Houston, is producing a series of television commercials for Auto Insurance Discounters featuring National Basketball Association star Clyde Drexler of the Houston Rockets. The commercial is for the Houston company’s “$22 Down” promotion, an homage to Drexler’s No. 22 jersey. Love also handles radio advertising and marketing strategy for the company.

Blockbuster Airs Ads From W.B. Doner
DETROIT–Two new 30-second TV spots for Dallas-based Blockbuster Video that broke last week in 25 markets were created by W.B. Doner & Co., Southfield, Mich. That agency was added to Blockbuster’s roster in January to handle a summer promotion, but will develop some mainstream ads as well. The spots use the tagline, “Go home happy,” created by Young & Rubicam, New York, which continues as Blockbuster’s national agency of record. The promotion Doner is developing has been pushed back to early 1999.

Riba Foods Names Freed Agency of Record
DALLAS–Houston-based Riba Foods, maker of the Arriba! line of Mexican salsas, has appointed Freed Advertising, also Houston, its first agency of record. Riba’s current marketing budget is $400,000, according to the agency. Freed has developed its first television spot for the client. The ad, which will air on English-language programming beginning in May, uses a voiceover in Spanish with English subtitles.

Vollmer Advances Levy to Senior VP
DALLAS–Vollmer Public Relations, Houston, promoted senior account manager Carolyn Levy to senior vice president. Levy, who has been with the shop for nine years, will continue to oversee the Pennzoil, AMC Theatres, Drypers and Sabre Interactive accounts.
