Richards Emerges in U S West Review
DALLAS–The Richards Group here and DDB Needham, Chicago, are among the shops involved in a review for the creative and media planning portions of U S West Communications’ $40-50 million account, sources said. The two agencies join previously identified contenders TBWA Chiat/Day, Venice, Calif.; Rubin Postaer and Associates, Santa Monica, Calif.; and Martin/Williams, Minneapolis. Other shops may also be pitching. Client officials in Denver had not returned calls at press time, and agency executives declined to comment. The review does not include media buying, which is handled by Cash Plus in Minneapolis.

Southwest Shuffle Brings New Marketing VP
DALLAS–A series of management shifts at Southwest Airlines here elevated Joyce Rogge from vice president of advertising and promotions to vice president of marketing, making her the sole marketing officer at the carrier. Former vice president for marketing and sales, Dave Ridley, was transferred to vice president of ground operations. GSD&M, Austin, Texas, creates advertising for the airline; media is handled by Camelot Communications, Dallas.

Rapp Collins Wins Adobe’s Direct Assignment
DALLAS–The Irving, Texas, office of Rapp Collins Worldwide successfully led a pitch to win the global direct marketing account for Adobe Systems, San Jose, Calif. Rapp Collins’ Irving operation was joined by sister offices in Scotland, Australia and Japan. The budget, as well as other contenders, were undisclosed. Rapp will handle direct response marketing and database management for Adobe products in North America, Europe and the Pacific Rim.

Landsafe Identifies 6 Dallas Contenders
DALLAS–Landsafe, a new subsidiary of home mortgage firm Countrywide in Plano, Texas, has scheduled meetings with six Dallas agencies in a review for its inaugural $1.5-2 million advertising account. Shops selected by Landsafe are Coffee/Black Advertising, Evans Advertising and Public Relations, HartyCom, KWGC Advertising & Design, Levenson & Hill and The Focus Agency. Consultancy Select Resources International, Los Angeles, is conducting the review.

Regian & Wilson Appoints PR Director
DALLAS–Regian & Wilson, Fort Worth, named Pamela Webb its new public relations director. Webb was previously manager of advertising and public relations for Dallas-based Promotional Products Association.

Bowlin Outdoor Makes Texas Acquisition
DALLAS–Bowlin Outdoor Advertising, Albuquerque, N.M., acquired Edgar Outdoor Advertising of Southlake, Texas, adding 62 boards to its Lone Star inventory. Bowlin now owns more than 550 signs in rural settings statewide. The Edgar displays are located southeast of Dallas/Fort Worth along Interstate 45.
