CHICAGO–CNS Inc. in Minneapolis, marketer of Breathe Right nasal strips, will launch a new product, Banish smoke odor eliminator, nationally this summer. CNS agency Martin/Williams, Minneapolis, is handling advertising for Banish.

Tatham Among Redenbacher Finalists
LOS ANGELES–Hunt-Wesson in Fullerton, Calif., is nearing a decision in a review for the $12 million Orville Redenbacher popcorn account, sources said. Incumbent TBWA Chiat/Day in San Francisco is defending against Team One Advertising in El Segundo, Calif., Young & Rubicam in San Francisco, and Euro RSCG Tatham, Chicago, sources said.

Ogilvy Wins Additional Bombardier Business
DETROIT–Bombardier, Montreal, named Ogilvy & Mather’s Dearborn, Mich., office the first agency for its Motorized Consumer Products Division, including its new Traxter all-terrain vehicle. The agency already handles Bombardier’s Ski-Doo division.

Slack Barshinger Adds Muffins
CHICAGO–BAB Holdings here consolidated advertising with Slack Barshinger & Partners, Chicago. The agency, which already handles BAB’s Big Apple Bagels and Brewster’s Coffee brands, adds the 65-unit My Favorite Muffin chain. Billings were not disclosed.

APL Secures Its Second Chicago Client
CHICAGO–Ammirati Puris Lintas’ office here picked up a strategic assignment from the University of Chicago Graduate School of Business. The win is the office’s first since opening late last year to handle the Ameritech creative account. Billings for the U. of C. assignment were not disclosed.

Celine Dion Sings for Ericsson
CHICAGO–Ericsson Mobile Phones will launch a new national TV campaign this summer featuring singer Celine Dion, whose 1998-99 concert tour the company will sponsor. Creswell, Munsell, Fultz & Zirbel in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, handles Research Triangle Park, N.C.-based Ericsson.

True North Acquires Tierney PR Wing
CHICAGO–True North Communications acquired Philadelphia public relations agency The Tierney Group. Terms were not disclosed. Tierney Group president Brian Tierney is also chief executive officer of ad agency Tierney & Partners, already owned by TN.

A story about a new campaign for Ponderosa and Bonanza steakhouses [Adweek, April 6] should have noted that the two chains were unified under a joint business structure last year. Both have been owned by Metromedia Restaurant Group in Dallas since the late 1980s.
