Liberty Mutual Taps Kirshenbaum
BOSTON–Liberty Mutual here has chosen Kirshenbaum Bond & Partners, New York, to handle its $27 million advertising account, client representative John Cusolito confirmed Friday. The three-month review started with questionnaires being sent to 10 shops. The contest came down to two finalists: Kirshenbaum and N.W. Ayer & Partners, New York. Incumbent Wells BDDP, New York, will close its doors next month.

GGT-Assumma Arbitration Ongoing
NEW YORK–Former Wells BDDP chief executive Frank Assumma’s arbitration against the agency, its parent GGT Group and other unidentified parties is progressing, with hearings expected to be completed by June, sources said. A ruling is expected as early as mid-July. Both Assumma’s attorneys and GGT declined comment. Assumma filed an arbitration demand shortly after his dismissal in January, seeking $14.6 million in damages.

Heineken Decision Expected Today
NEW YORK–Heineken USA is expected to name today the winner of the agency review for its $30 million advertising account. Sources said executives from the White Plains, N.Y.-based client were expected to meet over the weekend to select an agency to replace Wells BDDP here. The three finalists for the account are Lowe & Partners/SMS, McCann-Erickson and Ogilvy & Mather, all in New York.

Security Capital Launches Review
BOSTON–Security Capital Group in Chicago has retained Pile and Co. here to help select its first agency of record. The client, which has a controlling interest in $10 billion worth of commercial real estate nationwide, is looking for an agency to launch a family of mutual funds, said Pile and Co. president Skip Pile. The ad budget is $3-5 million.

WPP’s Intuition Group Taps Creative Director
NEW YORK–The Intuition Group here has hired Bobbi John, formerly senior vice president, creative director at Bates USA, as its new executive creative director. John replaces Veronica Nash, who left the agency recently to pursue other opportunities, and reports to president Lori Moskowitz Lepler. The Intuition Group is a unit of WPP Group and handles Clairol as its charter client.

Tatham CEO Rydholm to Step Down
CHICAGO–Ralph Rydholm has said he will step down as chief executive officer of Euro RSCG Tatham here next month, but remain as a consultant. Rydholm, 60, joined Tatham as chairman and chief creative officer in 1987 from the former Ted Bates Agency in New York. He relinquished those titles at Tatham to Bob Welke in 1996. Rydholm’s successor has not yet been named.
