Fallon In New York Donning Joe Boxer
SAN FRANCISCO–Apparel marketer Joe Boxer here is set to award a strategic branding assignment to Fallon McElligott’s New York office after a national review.
Fallon is “in final negotiations” with Boxer for a “brand development campaign” that does not include advertising, said Denise Slattery, the client’s vice president of marketing. Creative and media duties for its advertising will continue to be handled in-house, sources said.
FCB Picks Up Dow Brands From SCJ
CHICAGO–S.C. Johnson & Son in Racine, Wis., assigned responsibility for several brands acquired through its purchase of DowBrands to Foote, Cone & Belding here, its global agency of record. Billings for the brands are estimated at $40 million. The largest of the brands, the $20 million Ziploc account, had been at BBDO, Chicago. Others, such as Saran Wrap, Handi-Wrap and Fantastik, had been at Campbell Mithun Esty, Minneapolis. SCJ is selling three Dow brands–Spray ‘n Wash, Spray ‘n Starch and Glass Plus–to Reckitt & Colman, Montvale, N.J., to satisfy federal antitrust concerns.
JWT Kraft Account Chief Resigns
CHICAGO–Lori Donchak resigned as executive vice president and worldwide account director on Kraft Foods at J. Walter Thompson here. Donchak, who joined the agency eight months ago, said she had determined “it just wasn’t the right match” for her at JWT. She will remain for a few months until a successor can be found.
Carmichael Sale Expected to Close Today
CHICAGO–The Interpublic Group of Cos. is expected to formally announce today its acquisition of Carmichael Lynch. The Minneapolis agency has approximately $200 million in billings from clients including Harley-Davidson Motor Co., Harrah’s Entertainment and Boston Beer Co. IPG already owns a 50 percent stake in Minneapolis-based Campbell Mithun Esty.
DuPont Moves Creative Duties on Corian
CHICAGO–DuPont, Wilmington, Del., moved creative responsibilities for its Corian solid surfaces products to Gabriel Diericks Razidlo, Minneapolis, from BBDO, New York, which continues to handle media buying. Billings are estimated at about $3 million.
Doe-Anderson in Valvoline Hunt
CHICAGO–Doe-Anderson Advertising in Louisville, Ky., is among the contenders for the $20-25 million Valvoline oil account, according to sources. Cramer-Krasselt and Lois/EJL, both in Chicago, and Saatchi & Saatchi in New York were earlier identified as contenders by sources. Doe-Anderson executives declined to comment.
