Richards Drops Out of Nordstrom Hunt
DALLAS–The Richards Group here withdrew from contention for the national branding assignment of Seattle-based department store chain Nordstrom. The agency said it lacked the resources to pursue the account, in the wake of other recent client acquisitions. The remaining three finalists for the estimated $20-30 million assignment are N.W. Ayer & Partners in New York, Saatchi & Saatchi Pacific in Torrance, Calif., and Fallon McElligott in Minneapolis. A decision is expected this month.
Dieste & Partners Lands Orlandi Valuta
DALLAS–Dieste & Partners, Dallas, was selected to handle the Hispanic advertising account of Orlandi Valuta, an Englewood, Colo., firm that specializes in wire fund transfers from the U.S. to Mexico. Billings were undisclosed. Orlandi Valuta is owned by Hackensack, N.J.-based First Data Corp.
New Name for Little Rock’s Sells
DALLAS–Sells & Associates in Little Rock, Ark., has changed it name to Sells/Clark to reflect the promotion of Brian Clark, former vice president of account services, to president. Mike Sells, previously president, becomes chairman and chief executive officer.
Moroch Adds 9 Olds Dealers to Roster
DALLAS–Moroch & Associates here picked up nine new Oldsmobile Dealer Marketing Group accounts. Dealers from Nashville, Tenn.; Bowling Green, Ky.; McAllen and Brownsville, Texas; Denver and Colorado Springs, Colo.; Los Angeles and San Diego, Calif.; Phoenix; and Las Vegas were added. Moroch now represents 68 Oldsmobile markets in six regions. Billings for the new accounts were undisclosed.
Dell Factory Outlet, NetForce Hire Makos
DALLAS–Austin, Texas, agency Makos won the accounts of Dell Factory Outlet and NetForce Technologies, both Austin, worth a combined $1 million. Makos will handle advertising and media for Dell Factory Outlet, a retail source for refurbished and recertified Dell computers. NetForce assigned Makos direct mail and collateral work for its systems integration services involving voice, video and data communications.
Ryan’s Williams Moves Up to Senior Partner
DALLAS–Executive vice president Dave Williams was named a senior partner in the Dallas office of Ryan Partnership, headquartered in Westport, Conn. Williams has been at Ryan here since 1994, when he joined as a managing director.
Levenson PR Acquires Cellular One Group
DALLAS–Levenson Public Relations, sister company of Dallas agency Levenson & Hill, was appointed national public relations agency for Cellular One Group, also in Dallas. The agency cited its newly formed high-tech and telecommunications unit as a factor.
