– Electronic Trading Network Picks Fallon
CHICAGO–Archipelago, a fledgling electronic stock trading network, selected Fallon McElligott as its agency of record. The Minneapolis shop will create a multimedia brand campaign as the Evanston, Ill. company moves to become a fully electronic national trading exchange that competes with the New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq. Billings could go as high as $30 million, an agency representative said.
– Y&R Declines to Pitch Block
CHICAGO–Young & Rubicam here will not participate in H&R Block’s $100 million global advertising review. The incumbent agency on the account cited “philosophical differences” with the Kansas City, Mo., client. Y&R Toronto, and The Bravo Group, New York, are also out of the review. Still deciding whether to proceed are Y&R units Impiric and The Media Edge. The client has hired Select Resources International, Los Angeles, as a consultant, and query letters were sent to agencies last week. A decision is expected in June.
– Pinnacle Merges With Atlanta Shops
ATLANTA–Minority marketing firm Pinnacle Associates Group has merged with ad agency Vargas Flores & Amigos and public relations shop Roy Communications, both here. Chicago-based Pinnacle will have expanded breadth, now serving both the African American and Hispanic communities. Terms were not disclosed.

CHICAGO–Jack Levy Associates here is closing May 1, with three accounts and several executives joining K&R/Marc. The accounts are On-Cor Frozen Foods, Citizens Bank and Shure Inc. K&R/Marc in Chicago is a unit of Marc/USA, Pittsburgh.

CHICAGO–Erin Clark joins FCB Worldwide in Chicago on May 1 as executive vice president and group management director, new business. Clark comes from Grant/Jacoby in Chicago where she was managing partner and director of client services. Formerly Clark worked at The Leap Partnership, Euro RSCG Tatham and J. Walter Thompson.

CHICAGO–HSR Business to Business will handle brand development, advertising and eCommerce for Headquartered in Englewood, Colo., the application service provider delivers e-business and enterprise solutions to small and mid-sized businesses. Billings were undisclosed. HSR is in Cincinnati.
– Miller Drops Shipyard; Buys Rest of Celis
CHICAGO–Miller Brewing has sold its interest in Shipyard Brewing, Portland, Maine, five years after it bought a stake in the regional brewery. The Milwaukee brewery also said it had acquired 100 percent ownership of Celis Brewery in Austin, Texas, in which it has had a majority stake since 1995. The Celis family maintained a minority interest until selling out, Miller said. Terms of the deals were not disclosed.
