– Microsoft Readies Windows 2000 B-to-B Work
NEW YORK–Microsoft will launch its much-anticipated Windows 2000 business-to-business campaign this week via McCann-Erickson/A&L, San Francisco, with a benefit concert and print campaign featuring user testimonials. The estimated $100 million campaign kicks off Feb. 17 with a concert in San Francisco featuring Santana. The roughly $150 million consumer campaign is expected to follow within a few months. Microsoft this week also introduces two new Windows 2000-specific TV spots and supporting print ads as part of its Business Internet campaign, introduced in mid-December.
– RPA to Unveil New Acura Ads
LOS ANGELES–American Honda Motor Co. is set to unveil its latest Acura campaign. The ads, via Rubin Postaer and Associates, Santa Monica, Calif., break Feb. 27 and are geared toward the new Acura CL Coupe, which hits showrooms March 1.
– Copacino Serves Up
LOS ANGELES–Copacino of Seattle will handle the launch of, an online grocery service offered by the Boise, Idaho-based supermarket chain exclusively to Seattle residents. The estimated $2-3 million campaign will feature radio spots and full-page color newspaper ads.
– Accounts Roundup … TiVo Tunes In Goodby
Personal television service TiVo awarded its $25-35 million national account to Goodby, Silverstein & Partners, San Francisco [Adweek, Feb. 7]. The agency started work on the account immediately. … Citron Haligman Bedecarrƒ of San Francisco won the estimated $30 million ThirdAge Media account following a review of undisclosed agencies. The client’s Web site ( provides content for middle-aged consumers. … Salt Lake City-based FJCandN landed the accounts of Jackson Hole Mountain Resort and Myriad Genetic Laboratories. The agency will launch national print campaigns in trade titles for each. Estimated billings for Jackson Hole are $2 million. Figures were undisclosed for Myriad. … Tonic 360, San Francisco, won the estimated $10-15 million account for ZDTV, a cable TV channel and tech-based Web site. Initial ads will likely be offline. … The San Diego Padres selected DavisElen, San Diego, as its new ad agency. The account previously was handled by Di Zinno Thompson Integrated Marketing, San Diego. Billings were undisclosed.
– Reviews Roundup … Chooses Butler tapped Butler, Shine & Stern, Sausalito, Calif., to handle the New York- and San Francisco-based company’s $4-6 million account. The other finalist was CMG Communications, New York. Select Resources International, Los Angeles, conducted the search. …The competition for Long Beach, Calif.-based’s $15 million account is now among Grey Advertising, Los Angeles, RiechesBaird Advertising, Irvine, Calif., and undisclosed shops. WongDoody, Seattle, and Moss/Dragoti, New York, were eliminated. … The Disney Channel has selected an agency to handle its $10 million account, after a review. The shop is expected to be named by the Burbank, Calif.-based cable channel this week. SRI was the consultant.
