- Land Rover to Issue RFP on Jan. 26 NEW YORK--Land Rover North America will issue an RFP Jan. 26 for its $35 million account, said Jim Selwa, vp, marketing. The company is working with consultancy Richard Roth & Associates, Chappaqua, N.Y. "Dick Roth is moving forward with identifying the long list of agencies," Selwa said. "Agency visits will start Feb. 17, and we will make our selection on March 24." - OfficeMax Weighs 2 for $60 Mil. Account CHICAGO--OfficeMax is considering two agencies for its $60 million account, which has been at Campbell-Ewald Advertising for five years. Doner, Southfield, Mich., and Publicis & Hal Riney, Chicago, are presenting to the Shaker Heights, Ohio-based client this week, sources said. Doner in December was handed the estimated $15 million OfficeMax.com account. Agency officials declined comment; company officials could not be reached. - Xerox Consolidates Global Media at TME NEW YORK--Xerox Corp., Stamford, Conn., is consolidating global media buying at The Media Edge, which handles the business product company's U.S. media account, said sources. The new assignment adds an estimated $50 million in European and Latin American business to TME's $80 million domestic account. TME sister agency Young & Rubicam, New York, handles creative. - Snyder Gets Lukewarm Response From Bidders BOSTON--Some of the major holding companies are evaluating Snyder Communications' invitation to bid on its holdings, which include Arnold Communications, with caution, sources said. The high price tag--estimated at $1.5-2 billion--coupled with complex legal and accounting issues due to Snyder's restructuring, are among the issues curbing interest. "It's tough to throw a party and have no one show up," said one potential bidder last week. Shares of Snyder were trading at around $19 on Friday, up from a 52-week low of 11 3/4 but still down from its high for the same period of $41. - Digital@JWT Lands iPlanet's $35 Mil. Account NEW YORK--Digital@JWT here landed creative and media duties for iPlanet, an estimated $35 million account, following a review, sources said. Digital, which provides general and interactive creative, bested incumbent Lowe Lintas & Partners and Tonic 360, both San Francisco, sources said. Lowe Lintas launched the brand last summer with print and interactive ads themed "iPlanet: Run with it." The agencies declined comment; the Mountain View, Calif., company, a venture of Sun Microsystems, Netscape and AOL, could not be reached by press time. - Account Activity Excite! shifted its $5 million ad account from Lowe Lintas & Partners, New York, to Amster Yard, also New York, and awarded interactive duties to Gillespie, Princeton, N.J., confirmed representatives at Amster Yard and Gillespie. Cliff Freeman and Partners, New York, and Winstar unit Office.com have parted ways due to competitive issues at the agency, the two said in a joint statement. ...
