NBC Re-Ups With DMB&B for $50 Million Account
LOS ANGELES–NBC Television has signed a new two-year contract with D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles’ Los Angeles office. The agency, which has worked with the network for 10 years, will continue to handle media planning and placement as well as marketing and promotional programs to support NBC’s prime time schedule. Most of NBC’s creative duties are handled in-house. NBC spends about $50 milion on advertising.

Kirshenbaum, Bond Picks Up Andre-Boudin
SAN FRANCISCO–Andre-Boudin Bakeries has awarded its estimated $1-2 million advertising and marketing account to Kirshenbaum, Bond & Partners West, San Francisco, without a review, according to Nigel Carr, the agency’s managing partner. The San Francisco bakery previously handled ad duties in-house.

DMB&B Files Suit Against Former Client
NEW YORK–D’Arcy Masius Benton & Bowles last week filed a breach of contract suit against former client Gateway 2000, alleging the computer maker owes $9 million in payments. The document filed in U.S. District Court for the southern district of New York alleges “improper termination” of DMB&B, among other claims. Gateway shifted its $70-90 million account to McCann-Erickson here in March from DMB&B, Los Angeles. “The client has a right to terminate an agency relationship, but they don’t have the right to unilaterally walk away from an agreement,” said DMB&B chairman and chief executive Arty Selkowitz. Gateway declined comment.

Reviews Roundup. . . Fallon to Win Qualcomm
Fallon McElligott was selected by wireless phone marketer Qualcomm for its $20 million account and was in contract negotations late last week, sources said. Wieden & Kennedy, Portland, Ore., was the other finalist; incumbent DGWB in Irvine, Calif., did not pitch. Officials at Fallon declined to comment; Qualcomm executives could not be reached. … Level 3 Communications of Omaha, Neb., selected DDB Needham Dallas to handle its $30 million-plus account, sources said, but was still negotiating a contract at press time. Executives at DDB and Level 3 would not confirm DDB’s selection last week. Winkler Advertising, San Francisco, was a contender.

Fox Kids Network has retained Pittard Sullivan in Culver City, Calif., to handle creative duties. The agency earlier this year picked up creative duties for sister company Fox Family Channel. J. Walter Thompson’s Los Angeles office continues to handle media planning and buying. … Asher&Partners, Los Angeles, has split with client Hamm’s Beer, a division of Pabst Brewing Co., Milwaukee, according to sources. … Mattel roster shop Foote, Cone & Belding, Los Angeles, has picked up two new pieces of business from the El Segundo, Calif.-based toy company’s Disney Entertainment Division. FCB will handle Pooh and Disney activity toys and male action figures.
