A DDB, BBDO Talk Cash With Penney
DALLAS–Executives at J.C. Penney were said to be in financial compensation discussions late last week with two finalists, DDB, Chicago, and BBDO, New York, for its more than $100 million account. Penney is working with financial consultant Morgan Anderson. Sources said BBDO appears to be the front-runner. A decision could be announced as soon as today.
A SRI to Line Up Review for H&R Block
CHICAGO–H&R Block hired Select Resources International to handle a review for its $100 million global advertising account. The Kansas City, Mo., client has invited incumbent shop Young & Rubicam, Chicago, to participate. The agency has not yet decided whether to go forward. The work done by Y&R partners Impiric (formerly Wunderman Cato Johnson), Bravo (for Hispanic marketing) and MediaEdge, as well as by Nicholson Interactive, New York, is also in review. The client expects to complete its review by June.
A Missouri Tourism Looks at 9
CHICAGO–The Missouri Department of Tourism is reviewing nine proposals from in-state agencies for its $9 million advertising account. Joining incumbent Muller + Co., Kansas City, Mo., in the review are: crosstown shops NKH&W, MMG Worldwide and Kuhn & Wittenborn; St. Louis shops Brighton Agency, Fuse, D’Arcy and Kupper Parker Communications; and Osborn & Barr Communications in Clayton, according to department representative Renƒe Toul. The list will likely be narrowed before creative presentations. A decision is expected in early June.
A Periscope Picks Up MasterCraft
CHICAGO–MasterCraft has awarded its advertising account to Periscope Marketing Services after an informal review, agency officials said. Billings were undetermined, but the Minneapolis agency will create television, print and radio advertising. The Vonore, Tenn., company makes and markets waterski and sport motorboats. The previous agency was The Creative Network in Knoxville, Tenn.
A Fahlgren in Tampa Loses 2 Top Execs
ATLANTA–The two top executives at Fahlgren’s largest Southeast division have left the agency. Executive vice president Ginger Watters and senior vice president and creative director Scott Sheinberg exited the Tampa, Fla., affiliate of the Dublin, Ohio, agency. John Stertz, executive creative director for Fahlgren in Dublin, confirmed that Sheinberg had taken a creative director’s job at the Tampa office of WestWayne, where he will oversee that agency’s two Florida offices. Watters is reportedly starting her own business.
