– Deutsch Lands DirecTV Project
LOS ANGELES–DirecTV, which has its $65-70 million account in review, has tapped Deutsch/LA for an assignment, sources said. The Marina del Rey, Calif., agency will develop ads around DirecTV’s NFL promotion. Neither executives with the agency nor those at the Los Angeles-based direct broadcast satellite service were available for comment. Select Resources International, Los Angeles, is the consultant in DirecTV’s main review.

LOS ANGELES–Bozell Kamstra Advertising, Minneapolis, has formed an alliance with Origin Communications, Colorado Springs, Colo., to work with emerging companies from startup status through the IPO stage and beyond.
– Fox Taps Moses as Marketing Chief
LOS ANGELES–Senn Moses has been named evp of marketing for Fox Broadcasting Co. Moses will oversee all marketing, including on-air promotions, print advertising, the Web site and creative services. Moses joins Fox following two years as senior vice president, worldwide marketing for Columbia Pictures.
– Accounts Roundup … TBWA\C\D Lands Getacard, an online greeting card service, awarded its estimated $20 million advertising account to TBWA\Chiat\Day. The Playa del Rey, Calif., agency will develop a marketing and branding campaign. The Los Angeles-based Internet company offers greeting cards similar to those available in traditional stores. … Lambesis was tapped by Bahia Cigars, San Diego, to handle a national $1-2 million branding campaign. Media will continue to be handled in-house. … hired WongDoody as its agency. The shop’s Los Angeles office is expected to create a TV, radio and print campaign for the Los Angeles-based Web site, which connects consumers to retailers and suppliers. … tapped The Phelps Group, Santa Monica, Calif., to handle its ad account. The Santa Monica-based company’s Web site gives consumers the ability to create full-motion, specially produced video greetings. Billings were undisclosed.
– Reviews Roundup … Homestead In Final Stretch is in the final stages of a review for its $20-25 million account. Finalists are San Francisco shops Citron Haligman Bedecarrƒ, Publicis & Hal Riney and TBWA\Chiat\Day, sources said. The company previously worked with Swirl, also in San Francisco. … Longs Drugstores tapped San Francisco’s Pickett Advertising to handle its estimated $22 million account, sources said. The review included Grey Advertising, Los Angeles, and Hoffman/Lewis, San Francisco. The account was formerly at Doner, Southfield, Mich. … Charles Schwab & Co. has awarded its $30 million mutual funds account to GSD&M and a $10 million women’s initiative account to The Martin Agency. The Austin, Texas, and Richmond, Va., agencies will both handle creative and media planning on their respective accounts. Media buying will be handled by the San Francisco company’s lead agency, BBDO Worldwide, New York. TBWA\Chiat\Day, Playa del Rey, Calif., and Lowe Lintas & Partners, New York, were the other contenders.
