Hill, Holliday Breaks Ad for AMD
BOSTON–Advanced Micro Devices in Sunnyvale, Calif., last week unveiled a 60-second James Bond-inspired commercial on the season premiere of Seinfeld. The spot, titled “Diabolical” and created by Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos in Boston, promotes the client’s K6 MMX processor. The commercial will run only in markets with a concentration of Fortune 500 companies, including New York; Boston; Chicago; Austin, Texas; San Francisco; and Los Angeles.
Fidelity Executive Steps Down
BOSTON–The resignation last week of Paul Hondros from Fidelity Investments is not expected to immediately affect the company’s relationship with Hill, Holliday, Connors, Cosmopulos or interfere with plans to break a new corporate image campaign next month. Hondros was president of Fidelity’s retail group. Brian Carty, executive vice president at Hill, Holliday, described Hondros as a “good friend and class act.” Hondros will become president and chief operating officer of Pilgrim Baxter & Associates in Philadelphia.
Allen Heads to Staples
BOSTON–(Eth)Former Raytheon vice president of corporate communications Elizabeth Allen has joined Staples in Framingham, Mass., to fill the newly created post of vice president of communications. Allen is not expected to have contact with Cliff Freeman & Partners in New York or Pro Media in Needham, Mass., the shops that handle Staples’ creative and media assignments, respectively. Staples has been reviewing its media account for some months, but no final decision has been made, a Staples representative said last week.
Horn Group Grabs Software Account
BOSTON–(Eth)The Horn Group has landed its first East Coast client, Sovereign Hill Software in Dedham, Mass. The high-tech public relations agency headquartered in Burlingame, Calif., established an office in Braintree, Mass., in January in part to service client PeopleSoft.
Credit Union Banks On Donovan Group
BOSTON–Following a review, Worker’s Credit Union in Fitchburg, Mass., has named Donovan Group its agency of record. The Northborough, Mass., agency has created the tagline, “There’s not a bank like us.” The account includes print and broadcast advertising, outdoor executions, design duties, the creation of a Web site and public relations chores. Billings are estimated at $300,000.
Sean Tracey Opens Hub Office
BOSTON–Sean Tracey Associates in Portsmouth, N.H., has opened a Boston office and named Ned Biddle its executive producer. He most recently held the same position at Northampton, N.H.-based Whitewater Productions. Biddle joins producer Matt Nichols in the Hub branch.
