Kragie/Newell Wins Tabasco Promotions
CHICAGO-McIlhenny Co., Avery Island, La., selected Kragie/Newell, Des Moines, Iowa, to handle a yearlong promotional partnership tying Tabasco pepper sauce and the NASCAR race circuit. The program begins with a Tabasco/NASCAR cookbook promotion in January. Kragie/Newell’s Atlanta office will oversee the program.

Frankel Picks Up Cadillac Assignment
DETROIT-Frankel & Co. in Chicago has been given a direct mail assignment by General Motors’ Cadillac Motors Corp. division in Warren, Mich. The automaker confirmed the assignment but declined to provide details on the models involved. Frankel in February was named promotions agency for GM’s Oldsmobile division. DraftDirect, Chicago, was assigned direct marketing for Cadillac’s DeVille model in March.

CME Expands New York Office
CHICAGO-Campbell Mithun Esty executive creative director Jim Bosha is moving from its Minneapolis headquarters to its office in New York, opened in 1996 to handle production on the Kmart account. Additionally, two copywriter/art director teams have been added to the New York office, bringing its total staffing to 10 persons. Bosha joined CME in 1995, coming from Ogilvy & Mather in New York.

Midwest GTE Wireless in Review
DALLAS-GTE Wireless is reviewing roster agencies, including Bates Southwest in Houston and Liggett-Stashower in Cleveland, for a consolidated regional account in the Midwest and Southeast, according to sources. Insiders said GTE Wireless (formerly GTE Mobilnet) is combining multistate marketing efforts currently housed in Cleveland, Richmond, Va., and Indianapolis. Bates serves the portion based in Indianapolis, while Liggett handles the Cleveland-based account. GTE and agency officials declined to comment or could not be reached.

Newspaper Account Dispatched to Fahlgren
CHICAGO-Fahlgren in Dublin, Ohio, was named agency for The Columbus Dispatch after a review that included incumbent Burkholder Flint Associates, Columbus, Ohio. Fahlgren will handle creative development and media planning and buying for the Ohio newspaper’s broadcast advertising program. Print work for the newspaper will be handled in-house. A budget was not disclosed.

‘Rolling Stone’ Gathers Briefs Promotion
CHICAGO-Fruit of the Loom, Bowling Green, Ky., promotes its new men’s briefs by inserting doll-size versions in the Sept. 4 issue of Rolling Stone. The “Take the Comfort Challenge” promotion and supporting TV ads, which broke Aug. 10, were created by Laughlin/Donstable in Milwaukee. Leo Burnett, Chicago, is the company’s primary agency.
