Herald Parent Buys Community Newspapers

BOSTON—Fidelity Capital, a unit of mutual funds giant Fidelity Investments, has reached an agreement to sell its Community Newspaper Co. holdings to Herald Media, parent of the Boston Herald, New England’s second-largest circulation daily newspaper. Terms were not disclosed. The deal is expected to close Nov. 1. Community Newspaper Co. publishes 88 weekly papers, four dailies, several shoppers and targeted specialty publications, and operates a Web unit, Town Online. The company’s publications have a combined circulation of about 900,000.
